Fuses with remarkable musicalityĀ
Certainly, the fuses inside your audio & video equipment are amongst the most underestimated components. All current that is drawn from the mains has to go through a tiny piece of wire inside this very cheap part. In most cases, a large amount of money has been invested in expensive powercords and other mains related accessories. However, there is no accessory that will bypass the bottleneck in the power delivery of your system that is called the fuse. Huge enhancements can be achieved with little effort by replacing the stock fuses by HiFi-Tuning Supreme³ fuses which are specifically designed for audio/video applications.
In the HiFi-Tuning Supreme³ Copper Fuse, the caps as well as the melting wire consist of Cardas Low Eddy Copper, fitted in a black ceramic tube. The caps are gold plated to prevent oxidation. These fuses have got a cryogenic and WA-Quantum treatment. The fuses are fully hand-built in Germany and individually packaged in a luxury box.
The impact on your sound can best be described as a highly musical yet nicely detailed sound. In fact, the good properties of the HiFi-Tuning Ultimate² are improved in this fuse by far.

HiFi-Tuning Supreme³ “The icing on the cake” vom Hans von Draminski @ fidelity-magazine.com
“The ML No. 27 has excellent manners combined with a lot of backbone, so the money spent on the Supreme³ is anything but wasted. Quite the contraryāthe timbres become a touch more vibrant, the sonic contours a little clearer and the virtual space deeper and wider.”
New! HiFi-Tuning Diamond Fuses by Marshall Nack @ posi+ive feedback
“I replaced the Supreme³ Copper with the Supreme³ Silver/Gold. OMGāAnne-Sophie’s instrument nudged closer to a decent violin facsimile! The Silver/Gold was slippery fast and limber; the top-end was extended and still sweet; the timbral palette expanded. As image outlines firmed up, fresh low-level information emerged, helping the instrument reveal itself. The mini-crescendo of the first violins was cleaner.”
“The Silver/Gold eliminated the Copper’s lower midrange prominence, giving the upper midrange more room in its place. Lynn and I both missed the longer sustain, warmth, and rich, burnished tone of the Copper. However, I thought the Silver/Gold’s added detail, expanded timbres, and improved transients more than compensated for it. With either metal, there was a complete absence of abrasive or grating high frequencies. Both versions of the Supreme³ clearly outclassed the OEM fuses.”
Supreme³ microfuses from HiFi-Tuning by Daniel PlaĆmann @ audiophil-online.com
“First I used the Supreme3 copper fuse and started my listening session almost obligatorily with the album ‘Love Me Tender’ by Barb Jungr (Linn Records 2005). In the first track ‘Love Letters’ the Celesta sounded less sharp in the first few bars, but not a bit soft. On the contrary: the keystrokes were clearer, brighter, shinier ā and due to the lower sharpness, they lived up to their French word origin and sounded heavenly in the truest sense of the word. Barb Jungrās voice, which started shortly afterwards, had more volume, was therefore more present and also clearer. And the cello in the middle of the piece impressed with more distinct melodiousness and much more audible vibrato.”
Product description/review by Liu Yuhong @ Labkable HongKong
“The topic of fuses has already been covered in previous articles, so their function will not be discussed in detail here. For enthusiasts, the importance and value of fuses is sometimes greater than replacing cables or even devices. Even if the best power cord is available for replacement, if the fuse is of average quality, it will become the bottleneck, similar to the “barrel effect.” Affectionately referred to by enthusiasts as “HiFi Vitamin E,” the fuse is crucial because it is the protective switch directly behind the power line.
The fuse discussed today is the Supreme3 āācopper fuse, third generation, from HiFi-Tuning. With a maximum current of 3.15 A and a specification of 5 x 20 mm, it is 100% hand-soldered in Germany and undergoes several quality control procedures before delivery. Although HiFi-Tuning isn’t frequently mentioned in China, it’s a company that strives for excellence and perfection in its products, as evidenced by everything from the classic British 13A pure silver fuse of the first generation to the latest third-generation silver/copper fuse. It can be assumed that the internal fuse wire conductor of HiFi-Tuning fuses consists of 99% pure silver plus 1% 24K gold; its material is quite similar to that of the top-of-the-line Supreme Silver/Gold capacitor from the renowned German capacitor manufacturer Mundorf. The solder used in the HiFi-Supreme fuse, which is a silver-gold alloy, was previously supplied by Mundorf, but HiFi-Tuning now has its own solders manufactured, also in Germany, of course.
Why use a silver-gold alloy for fuses? Because it’s unavoidable that cavities form inside the pure silver wire during the crystallization process. Furthermore, the wire’s surface isn’t perfectly smooth during cooling and subsequent crystallization. Therefore, 1% of the 24K gold is used to fill these cavities. This concept is actually consistent with that of Siltech, the Dutch audio cable manufacturer specializing in the use of similar materials. In addition to adopting existing technology, including the use of their unique fuse wire and cryogenic treatment below -196°C, HiFi-Tuning’s third-generation silver/copper audio fuse utilizes their proprietary, high-quality Supreme3 āāgold-silver-copper solder for manual soldering. It is not only cryogenically treated but also processed using patented quantum technology and employs a engineered structure optimized to minimize resonance. The demagnetization and WA-Quantum processing result in a more solid soundstage, more emotional and natural vocals and timbre, and a more balanced frequency range, creating an unforgettable listening experience.
The demagnetization treatment is designed to significantly reduce the negative influence of a magnetic field on sound quality, thus enriching the details. The WA-Quantum treatment smooths the high-frequency response and makes the soundstage more airy. The black ceramic tube makes its body harder and more stable. The use of a special filter shield significantly reduces the influence of current resonance, resulting in clearer sound reproduction.
Despite its tiny size, this third-generation HiFi-Tuning Supreme3 āācopper fuse boasts many outstanding features, such as fuse caps made of 24-karat gold-plated Cardas Grade 1 copper. The fuse caps of this 20mm fuse is constructed entirely of American Cardas Grade 1 pure copper, ensuring excellent sonic performance.“
